Lithic gardening is a traditional farming method used in a number of cultures with higher elevation or cold farming conditions. This type of farming is used to maximize soil temperatures and thus increase the productivity of plants. Norma Kerby is a Terrace-based writer and environmental consultant. Her passions include amphibians, natural ecosystems, sustainable living, and adaptations of wildlife and people to northern British Columbia.
