The purpose of the Friends of Heritage Park Museum is to first and foremost promote and raise the profile and work of Heritage Park Museum. The Friends of the Museum group will work toward encouraging the community to take part in special events and the day to day running of Heritage Park.
Another main function of the Friends of the Museum is to raise funds for Heritage Park.
Friends of the Museum will use their specific skill sets to better Heritage Park Museum. Examples of this can include giving tours, helping with and planning events, handyman work and helping with the care of the collections. Staff members will work with the Friends to establish tasks that work with their interests and skills.
Friends of the Museum will assist with the organization and hosting of talks, lectures, workshop and programs. Friends may also assist with planning and hosting Seniors Tea or School Tours.
Friends of Heritage Park Museum will receive the same benefits as paying members, expect for the entitlement of a vote at the Annual General Meeting. In addition to the member benefits, Friends of the Museum will receive an invitation to the yearly ‘Volunteer Appreciation Party’.
To become a Friend of the Museum an individual must dedicate ten volunteer hours per year.
