The Heritage Park Museum came into being as a community effort and continues to grow as such. We appreciate donations of items and ask that you first please contact the museum before bringing an object to be donated.
Objects must be relevant to Terrace and District or a pioneer from the area.
The park staff may reject offers based on the size of the object, the care it requires or if it is a duplicate to an object already in our possession.
Heritage Park Museum accepts cash and cheque monetary donations. Please make your cheque or money order payable to Heritage Park Museum. Visit Contact Us for address details. Income Tax Receipts can be issued by the City of Terrace.
The museum has a number of ways that you can become actively involved through volunteering. Volunteerism is a great way to support the cultural development of Terrace and to support the preservation of history in our community. Visit Contact Us to get in touch and sign up!
Riverboat Days: 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. 1-5 August
Event Description: For children ages five to twelve, pioneer craft workshops at Heritage Park Museum will feature fun crafts such as paper and instrument making and weaving. There will also be pioneer games and snacks.
Oral History Project
Interview community pioneers/elders about their lives and experiences in the Terrace area. Volunteers will first be given orientation in oral interview techniques through a training session or workshop, and are welcome to interview pioneers/elders with whom they are already familiar.
Construction Projects
While projects in this category would depend on the volunteer’s interest and experience, past volunteers have helped with site maintenance, built display tables and shelves, and helped construct our Riverboat Days float.
Gardening Projects
Help plant, maintain, and interpret our Organic Heritage Garden, which features plants which can be traced back to Terrace and area pioneer gardens between 1905 and 1925.
Local History Projects
Each project in this category is developed in conjunction with the volunteer, but possible positions might include researching forest-related activities in the area, mining in the area, agriculture in the area, trapping in the area, local pioneers, and First Nations history.
Archival Projects
Each project in this category is developed in conjunction with the volunteer—current projects include organising our photograph archive, scanning historic photographs of Terrace, and translating letters written to early settlers. Other projects might involve helping with archival backlog and improving Heritage Park Museum’s database.
